Foster

Fostering Saves Lives!

BARC-CT could not function without caring fosters providing a temporary place for a rescued animal to stay in their home. Some only have their foster dog long enough for a good meal and a safe night's sleep, others may have their guest for longer. Often, a dog remains with the foster family for many weeks—long enough to work on developing trust or recovering from injuries or a surgical procedure.

It is possible to specify a time preference by choosing to be an Emergency or Long Term Foster. While in foster care, BARC-CT covers all medical expenses and may supply you with other items like a crate or special food, if needed. Occasionally, the option to Foster-to-Adopt is utilized. This allows for a short "trial period" for a family who intends to adopt, but may need additional time before doing so. We are flexible and will work with each family regarding individual needs.
